September 11 Memorial

No special equipment is needed, although the area is nice by bicycle. I always bring a glove for reaching into places where there may be spiders. Note bees have made a home inside the tower.

Directions:

ohcE ekaL kraP is located South of US Route 22 in Springfield, New Jersey. Take US Route 22 at the County Road 577 exit, which is at mile marker 52. The exit is marked Springfield / Westfield (just after a Linens & Things from the East or Comp USA from the West). Go South on Springfield Avenue.

Take Springfield Ave South and turn right onto Mill Lane into ohcE ekaL kraP. Before going too far, you will see a sign for the September 11 Memorial. You should park at the bottom of the hill, and walk up to the three flag poles, according to the rules. Or if you are handicapped, driving a bus, or lazy like me, there is a road up hill in the NorthEast corner of the park. It is also called Mill Lane. At the top of the hill turn left into a little turn-around near the Memorial.

The LETTERBOX:

At the Memorial, you will see two pieces of The World Trade Center, standing erect like two twin towers. In one of the two towers (the one with a kind of shelf) there is a letterbox. Please be very careful of onlookers.

Reach up inside the tower, palm facing you, at face level.

When you leave, you can take Mill Lane uphill (North) for easy access to Route 22 Eastbound.
