Easy walk. Dogs allowed on leash. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Outdoor pavilion has gas grills which, if you ask, you may be able to utilize while you enjoy the wine. Open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day of the week. (Some holidays are an exception)

Directions: Located in the picturesque Virginia Piedmont Region- Chrysalis Vineyards is 35 miles west of downtown Washington, D.C. on Champe Ford Road which is between the small village of Aldie and Middleburg.

From Washington DC: Take Route 66 West to Route 50 West towards Middleburg. Just outside of the small town of Aldie, you will see a sign that says "Chrysalis Winery 1.3 miles". Make a left on Champe Ford Road. This is a lovely gravel road flanked by old stone walls typical of this part of Virginia. You will go exactly 1.3 miles and make a left into the winery parking lot.

Park your car and start out by heading up the gravel path to the tasting barn. Duck in if you care to or enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnic tables scattered around the property. If you go into the wine tasting barn, you will learn about the native American "Norton" grape and the fabulous wines. Afterward, stroll out the back door to the patio and enjoy the surrounding view of the Blue Ridge Mountain and bucolic scenery of the pond and vineyards surrounding this hill-top vantage point. Perhaps, with a glass of "Sarah Patio" wine, stroll over to a grove of trees just beyond the patio, where you will discover the grave stone of "Sarah Girtrude Lynn". Read the inscription and you will learn more. From there come back around and take the stairs down leading to the large barn. When you reach the bottom, follow the wooden wall to your right. Go to the corner where you will find some ivy trellising down. Reach into the ivy at the top and you will find the treasure buried amongst the leaves.
