Zaleski State Forest
Difficulty: Fairly easy
Terrain: Fairly flat except for a short steep climb up an old railroad embankment.
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.
Located near the Moonville Tunnel.
Directions: Take OH 278 towards Lake Hope State Park. When you reach the lake look for Wheelabout road intersecting 278. Follow Wheelabout Rd for a short distance to a fork. Take the left fork. (Shea Rd.) Follow Shea Rd. for a couple of miles till you make it to a steel truss bridge. Just before you cross the bridge park on the left and look for the path on the east side of the road. Follow the path which follows Raccoon creek back and then up to the old railroad bed where the old railroad bridge support structures still stand. Go east on the old railroad bed a few hundred feet to the tunnel entrance. From the entrance to the tunnel turn around and go back as you came 45 steps to a path on the left. Follow this path 127 steps, staying on the upper path after it splits and go to a fallen log across the path.(NOTE: Dr. watson found this box 7/2/09 and reports..... He's still live and well. There is another tree that fell across the path, so this is the second tree on the path. thanks) "DREAM" is at the base of this fallen log in a black letterpouch under limbs, logs and leaves.(Note: 5/7/13 finder reports several fallen trees across the path now so do count those steps from the turn off onto this path.) Dream just happens to be the only box I had left with me to place on this outing away from home.......and has nothing to do with Moonville Tunnel so don't be disappointed. The trip to the Tunnel is satisfaction in itself and I hope you enjoy your outing. Be sure to check out Bloodhounds "Haunted Moonville" located not far away as his stamp is outstanding!!
