NOTES:
Letterbox visited and confirmed alive & well on January 16/10.

Letterbox was previously replaced on Feb. 14/07.

Clues

The book, “Maui Revealed”, provides good directions to the Olivine Pools on the north shore of West Maui.

Once you have parked your car in the gravel lot just off the highway, face the ocean and look left toward Kapalua.

The Bell Rock will be on the mauka (mountain) side of the road and on the makai (ocean) side of the road you will see a hill.

At the top of this hill, you will see a larger lava rock (not the rock on the hill nearer the road). This lava rock is about 50 yards makai (ocean side) off the road and shelters the Olivine Pools Letterbox.

Proceed along the dirt trail somewhat parallel to the road, but angling slightly toward the ocean, to the larger lava rock on top of the hill.

The Olivine Pools Letterbox was located near a small bush under some rocks at the corner of the large lava rock closest to the road and tending toward Kapalua. One of the rocks protecting the Letterbox is large but not overly heavy. It was reported Jan. 16/10 that there is now a memorial cross at this rock where the Letterbox was initially placed.

Another Letterboxer has move the box to the SE side of the hill so you may have to search a bit to find it. We will visit this Letterbox on Feb. 3 and update the clues. The big rock is on the NE part of the hill and the Letterbox is now on the SE side of the hill.

As the original Olivine Pools Letterbox went missing, this is a replacement Letterbox placed February 14, 2007.

Once you have found the Olivine Pools Letterbox and signed in, thank you for replacing the Letterbox to ensure the integrity of its hiding place.

Please ensure that there are sufficient stones protecting the Letterbox so that it is well protected from the weather and the view of passersby. Thank you.

We hope you enjoy the hike, the swim and the fabulous scenery in your quest for the Olivine Pools Letterbox.

Please contact us by email at peter@brill.ca to let us know you found this box and the condition it is in, plus any other comments
you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.

Happy Letterboxing!
