UPDATE: - missing after flooding

Waco Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operated lake located in McLennan County and is entirely within the city limits of Waco, Texas. The lake offers camping, fishing, boating, swimming, hunting, biking & walking trails, birding areas and much more. For more lake information, go to http://155.84.70.101/waco/

I wanted to hide this box at Reynold's Creek Park where they have a playground, ampitheater, and hiking trail, but the park is only open to campers. You ARE allowed in for ampitheater programs which are scheduled for most Saturday nights throughout the Summer. For information on the Summer programs, go to http://155.84.70.101/waco/amptheat.htm

I ended up hiding this box at Twin Bridges Park which is also on the lake. The park is open from 6:00am to 10:00pm.

Directions: From I35 in Waco, take the Hwy6 North exit towards Meridian. Stay on Hwy6 until you have crossed a long bridge over the lake. Exit at Twin Bridges Park. This is the first exit after the bridge. Enter the park. There is a day use fee of $1 per person 12 and over with a $4 maximum per vehicle.

Turn right after the gate going towards the group shelter area instead of the marina. Take the first left. (If you find yourself at the group shelter, then you missed the left turn.) Park in the parking area. Look at the playground and let your children play for awhile. Now turn around so your back is to the playground. See all the picnic shelters? Hopefully the one on the far left is empty.

Walk to the shelter on the far left. From the shelter, walk 48 paces southwest along the dirt path. You should now be at the edge of the asphalt drive. From here, walk 50 paces. Look to your right. You should see a group of trees about 10 feet from the road. There are 3 evergreens on the left side of the group and 2 other trees on the right side. (I think the ones on the right are mimosa, but I'm not positive.) The box is on the backside of the trunk of the left most evergreen in the group.

Now that you are hot and sweaty, go for a swim at the beach. The swimming area is on the other side of the playground.

Note that depending on the time of year and how many people are at the park, subterfuge may be necessary. It was a weekday afternoon and 100 degrees when I hid the box so everybody was over on the swimming beach and could not see me.
