Just a note that this is the first letterbox placement on the Flower Power Team, so please be forgiving...

My son, who loves the South American Rainforest, chose the Red-Eyed Tree Frog as our first endeavor. When you find the box, check the inside cover for a true fact about the amphibian. Enjoy your quest!

Coming from Burlington Center on Route 4, Turn South onto route 69. Travel about 1.5 miles to the Tunxis Trail sign (blue) which will be on the corner of Scoville Road and Route 69. Turn right onto Scoville where there is parking immediately to the left of the road. You will find the trailhead to the left of the dirt parking lot.

The trail will be marked with a blue blaze and an orange dot in the center. Follow the trail. Stop over the bridge to enjoy the crisp water flow underneath. Continue on your journey passing a rock wall and a huge pile of brush to your left until you reach a service road. Cross the road to continue the trail. You will then see (during the summer) what my daughter calls, fern heaven. You will understand why when you see it. About 75-100 yards after a rock wall, which crosses the path before you, you will see a double trunked maple tree which is gi-normous (Lingo for "Elf" fans only). Behind the tree is a large boulder. Behind this boulder is another smaller boulder. It is there that you will find "The Colorful Tree Frog".

Let me know how it goes......

Hike length: 1-2 miles
