I have picked up all of the boxes and taken them home to clean them up.
I hope to replant them this fall, hopefully in the next two or three weeks.
I will be updating the clues, as some of the locations are no longer good resting places for the boxes. However they will all remain in the same cemetery they were originally planted in.

This series is made up of a number of letterboxes located in cemeteries in the Western portion of the State of Maine. The series is put together to introduce the seeker to some of the wonderful art work and interesting history which can be discovered in the many cemeteries located around the area. Many of these cemeteries are seldom visited and it is hoped you will treat them with the respect that these final resting places of those who have gone before deserve. Buried here are those who carved out our towns from the wilderness, the early settlers, the sailors, and soldiers that fought for our freedom, as well as our own ancestors. Take the time to enjoy the journey, walk the graveyard, observe the artwork and read some stones where often an interesting story can be found.

#15 - Flowers & Vines. Flowers and vines represent the beginning of a new life in heaven.

From the intersection of Rt. 26 and Rt. 232 in Woodstock, take Rt. 232 North 0.9 mi. to the Cushman Cemetery on your left in Woodstock. From a large White Pine in the back of the cemetery near the center, a partial stone wall leads back from the tree. Rest in Peace Letterbox #15 is located in a hole in the base of this stone wall about 2 feet from the Pine covered by leaves and sticks.

#16 - Rising Sun. The rising sun represents the beginning of a new life in heaven.

From the intersection of Rt. 26 and Rt. 232 in Woodstock, take Rt. 232 North 2.6 mi. to a cemetery on your left in North Woodstock. On the right side of the cemetery, you will find 2 large Pine Trees growing side by side. Rest in Peace Letterbox #16 is located behind the largest on these trees at its base covered by sticks and needles.

#17 - Torches. Torches represent an eternal life in heaven. If the flame points downward it, in addition, indicates the end of a family line.

From the intersection of Rt. 2 and Rt. 5 in Rumford Point, take Rt. 5 North 2.2 mi. to a cemetery surrounded by a chain link fence on your right in Rumford. At the front left corner of the cemetery is a large Spruce. Rest in Peace Letterbox #17 is in the back of this tree at it's base covered with sticks and needles.

#18 - Crown. The crown represents the Crown of Righteousness.

From the intersection of Rt. 2 and Rt. 5 in Rumford Point, take Rt. 5 North 9.5 mil. to the Woodlawn Cemetery in Andover on the right. Along the back right edge of the cemetery, you should note a granite slab with 2 metal plaques on it. Behind this is a clump of 3 Birches. Rest in Peace Letterbox #18 is located in a hollow covered by sticks and leaves beneath the roots of the Birch furthest back in this clump.

#19 - Broken Heart. The broken heart represents the separation of loved ones brought on by death.

From the intersection of Rt. 5 and Rt. 120 and the East B Hill or Upton Rd. in Andover, take the East B Hill Rd. West 6.4 mi. to a cemetery on your right in Andover North Surplus. Near the left rear corner of the cemetery is a large, dead, still standing Poplar trunk. Rest In Peace Letterbox #19 is located behind this trunk at it's base covered with sticks and leaves.

#20 - Dove. The dove represents a life of purity.

From Rumford Point, take Rt. 2 East 3.7 mi. to the Andover Rd. on your left. Take the Andover Rd. North 3.2 mi. to a cemetery on your right surrounded by a white post and rail fence. Proceed to the far right corner and go over the stone wall located there. Rest in Peace Letterbox #20 is located in a pocket in the outside corner of the stone wall beneath sticks and leaves.
