Take Rt3 from Trenton heading toward Bar Harbor. Follow the signs for the Mount Dessert Island Lab (MDI). Take a left onto Old Bar Harbor Road. Follow past the MDI and the Bay Meadow Cottages. After the Bay Meadow Cottages drive .2 miles up the hill. On the left you will see a patch of mowed grass. Walk up the path formed by the mowing. You will see a very large rock marking the first town house erected in Eden. Walk past this marker into a cemetery. Look for Ebenezer Salisbury’s grave. Stand with your back to the gravestone. Look for a large moss covered pine tree at 2 o’clock just as the hill starts to rise. In the roots under the stones you will find what you seek.
This is our first Letterbox, which we placed while visiting family in the area.
