WHERE IT IS: Eagle Island, Hamlin Reservation.
TERRAIN: 1
CLUES: 1
STAMP: Hand Carved, Mounted
TIME: 1 mile, 30-45 minutes including stamping in.

There are NO Ink Pads so please use your own. ALSO IF YOU GEOCACHE there is one called Eagle Island located pretty close to my second letterbox.

IMPORTANT: First box has been moved to new location. Strangers...even geocachers have found this box and they dont close it up tight so please when you find these letterboxes do NOT leave an obvious pile of rocks or sticks so that anyone can tell something is hidden there. Also I have been finding trash near the letterbox site (junk food wrappers). It would be nice if you would Please take trash with you if you find some there.

IMPORTANT: Beware of Poison Ivy. I have changed the route so you dont have to walk through the ivy. Bug spray is recommended.

Admission and Parking are free..Dogs are not allowed. Terrain is Marsh land, easy and mostly flat with no steep hills. Bug spray is recommended to protect against tics, mosquittos and green heads during late July. Presently Green head season is over :)

Hamlin Reservation is a property owned by The Trustees of Reservations. Map and info can be found at: http://www.thetrustees.org/pages/311_hamlin_reservation.cfm

Clues: Start at the Property trail map. Notice that there is only one trail that circles the property. You will be heading counter clockwise. Follow the trail through the Marsh meadow until you come to a canopy of trees. Look for the 3 trunked tree on the left. To the RIGHT of the tree 2 rocks over hidden under one rock and in a crevice you will find the SEA SHELL LETTERBOX. PLEASE REHIDE THE SAME WAY..this is the box that keeps getting found by strangers so I moved it to the right of the tree. Continue down the trail until you cross a wooden foot bridge. Up ahead you will see Eagle Island.

At the fork you will go right After a few minutes you will come to a stone wall (about 4 minutes). Dont go through the wall but look to your right down the wall. Walk 3 giant steps beside the wall. It is here that you will find the SAND DOLLAR Letterbox hidden behind a rock in the wall, and leaves. After stamping in please rehide the way you found it with some leaves for protection. Please remember not to leave an obvious pile...try to rehide so it is discreet. Continue to follow the trail around (you might encounter ivy) or return the way you came over the foot bridge and back to your car.

Any problems or to let me know you found it please feel free to contact.

If you have extra time take a left out of the parking lot and head down Argilla road to Russell Orchards Farm. They sell all kinds of fresh goodies..including the best homemade Ice Cream I have ever tasted.
Continue a mile further and you will come to Cranes Beach. Parking is $20 dollars unless your a member of the Trustees..then parking is only $5.00. This is the cleanest beach in the area and it is LOADED with Sand Dollars during Low Tide on the Sand Bars.
