Clues

Cross the Bourne Bridge so that you are on the south side of the Cape Cod Canal. You can start anywhere you wish on the canal road biking, blading or walking. Head towards the west end of the canal towards the railroad bridge.

Walk west until you find telephone pole # 355 on your left. (If starting at the railroad bridge, walk easterly and look for pole # 360 on your right.)

Located between poles # 355 and #360 you will see a very large sign reading: Aptucxet Trading Post and Museum Founded 1627. Head up into the picnic area behind the sign and follow the trail to the stocks and the Museum to your right. The Pilgrims traded here with the Dutch making this the very first “store” in America.

To your left you will see the Gray Gables Train Station and to the right of the station, the One-Horse Open Sleigh. To the right of the sleigh look ahead to find two large OAKS making the shape of a “V” at their base. The right oak has a very large “knot” where there may have once been a branch. Between the two trees you will find our letterbox. Leave us your stamp and a note. We’d love an email response too!

Please leave it as you found it…closed tightly and buried.
