If using Mapquest, use this address.( 1 Arlington St.Boston,MA.)

Clue:
Park as close to the hatch Shell as you can then locate the corner of Beacon St. and David G Mugar Way. From here you can see the start of the Arthur Fiedler footbridge. Start out with the Arthur Fiedler plaque on your left. Head up and over the bridge stopping on the other side. Take the path to the sharp right. As you walk take time to say hello to Charles Devin then George Patton. Follow the path in front of the Hatch Shell stopping at Maurice Tobin. To your left you will see a U.S. Army howitzer. Behind Mr. Tobin you will see a bridge. Crossing this bridge brings you over Storrow lagoon; this is the first of 4 bridges that cross over the lagoon. Once over the first bridge, following the paved path to the right till you reach the 3 benches between the 4 trees that will be on your right. Stand near the middle bench. Look out over the river you may see Red tailed hawks riding warm air currents. If not, you still should have a nice view of sailboats or even a Gondola floating by. Keep walking you should have the river on your right and Storrow lagoon to your left. Keep heading up river using the dirt path close to the river. Stop when you reach the first large tree a few feet to the left of the dirt path. This is a Willow tree they are well known for there distinctive weeping foliage. It is among the first willows to bear leaves in spring and among the last to shed them in autumn. Stand with your back to the river and the willow in front of you. Take a few side steps to your right. Walk ahead crossing over the paved path then over the 1st dirt trail stopping on the 2nd dirt trail. Now turn right. Walk till you reach the large bolder. Stand facing Otis Grove. You should see steps leading in to the water off in the distance. Look over your right shoulder you will see a hollow weeping willow. Go see if you can fit in the tree then start to hooting like and owl. If you’re done playing around, stand in front of the tree facing the opening. Take 6 side steps to your right. Walk to the bench that’s in front of you and sit on it. If you look to your right, down the end of the lagoon you will see a foot bridge. Just before the footbridge there is a Weeping Willow at the waters edge. When you reach that tree, walk slowly and look under the tree on the branches in the water for turtles resting and soaking up the sun. This is where I took the photo of the Red ear slider used for the stamp of this letterbox. When you’re done looking for turtles go to the middle of the footbridge and turn facing the wooden dock. Walk to the wooden dock and stand at the center. To your left is a great spot to do nothing and watch the sunsets. To your right is the start of the lagoon where you could see Black crown night herons resting in the trees. Ok now while you’re standing in the center of the dock, turn so your back is to the river. You should have a nice view of the Prudential now. Walk ahead till you are at the base of the round monument. Stand on the center of this monument. Look to the West. Now stand on the W. Take one large step to the T to the left. The base of this T is pointing at 2 green triangles. Walk to the triangle on the left. Once you’re in front of the triangle, you will see a clue on the green post. This was the location of the first letter box but has now been moved. You will have to stand so the river is on your right. In front of you there is a black fence. Keep the fence on your left. Walk along the fence until you reach the first gate. Walk to the 5th black post on your left. Take 3 steps and turn left. Take 2 steps and turn right. Now see how high you can jump. I reached the tree branches. When you’re done jumping acting like a frog, take one side step to your left. Walk ahead 5 steps and step up. Turn right and walk over the 3 round floating steps. Step up to the 2nd platform and turn left. Go over the bridges till you reach the last tower. Down the slide you go. At the bottom of the slide take 4 steps to the river. Stand on the wooden curb then turn left. Without touching the black fence walk along the zig zaging curb till you reach the green bench. Look to your right, you will see gate on the other side. Go out one gate and in the other. Walk ahead to the sign that says “Watch me grow”. Well see how tall you are since your here. If you’re done, turn right and take 8 steps. Turn right, go up the steps past the two driving Wheels. Head under the first towers roof and turn left. Walk ahead and down the slide you go. Sitting on the slide, look to your right. You should see 3 steps. This is the 4th book and the 2nd hiding spot so beware of who’s watching. It can be a busy place so take your time. Look under the bottom step. Here rest the Red ear Slider Letterbox. When replacing please try to cover the box up well with woodchips.
