“Ho Ho Ho, what a joly little village that Mansfield Center!" said Santa as he flew by on a test pattern for his pending deliveries. “Well, lets skip on over to Ashford, Donner and see how folks there have decorated for the holiday. So their courses they flew on up the Warrenville Road all the way to the light at Mount Hope. The sleigh banked a sharp right crossing the river skimming just above the bridge. Then Santa banked a sharp left, ”on up River Road Blitzen, this is a great neighborhood.”

They whizzed through the frosty air through a bit of Mansfield, Chaplin, and Ashford. They tested the famous loop the loop over Bicknell Brook and Road and went on straight. “Ease up Dasher and we’ll stop in Friedman Forest for a cool drink of water from the stream there.” The passed the dirt part of Bebbington road where it turns but went on past the farm house and banked right into a wooded lane landing area. “Those Joshua’s trust folks saved this piece of land too Comet they give a gift to generations to come by saving these nice pieces of woods ,awful good of those folks I especially like these ones where we can stop for water without being noticed."

Santa let the deer off the sleigh to grab a snack and cool drink on the rest stop. They were way ahead of schedule, the new route the elves had planned would certainly make Christmas eve go quickly by. Santa wandered up the trail crossing a stream on uneven stone. The trail was so well marked with yellow blazes. When he came to a one sided bridge he skipped across listening to the water flowing by.

The trail forked and he remembered a place from a previous visit here. He took the left branch and walked up the path. Evergreens grew to the sides of the trail. “Still here after all these years. Hey boys look at the oak why its been here over a hundred years now!”

Sure enough Santa had found a large oak to the left off the trail where he once before had stopped on a test drive day. He stepped over the wall to admire the towering branches reaching skyward. Cupid shyly nudged him to the left. Then again another nudge. Santa looked down at the wall and laughed “Ho Ho Ho!”

Cupid remembered they had hidden a little treasure under a tree with many legs “well you remember the Secret Santa, lets see if anyone else found it.” They had a look then returned down the trail to the sleigh. “Hey boys lets come back another day I know the Good Fairy that lives here would love a visit too." And we heard them exclaim as they drove out of sight. “Happy Letterboxing to all, and to all a good night.”
