Whitman Hanson High School just got itself a new building. The old one was opened in 1962 and quickly outgrew the building, so "portables" were erected, which lasted until this summer when the entire building was torn down. Now there's a much newer, beautiful building behind the original location. We're quite proud of our school, so take some time to look at the building.

Start by going to the high school, whci is on Franklin street and straddles the town lines of Whitman and Hanson. It would be best to go on a weekend, school vacation, or after five on a weekday so you can park.
At the school, go to the atrium in front of the main doors and face the school. Look to your right, where there is a set of stairs. Go down the stairs and across the parking lot and through a gap in the trees to a clearing. Go under the high tension wires to the path on the other side and follow that path to the stone wall.
When you reach the stone wall, turn around and walk back forty five steps. When you stop, you'll see a stone embedded in the ground on your right, and to your left you'll see a fallen tree with a clearing beyond it. Walk straight into the clearing, and follow the path that bears to the left. You'll see a small pointed stump in front of you; beyond that you'll see a mound of dirt, which is attached to the roots of a rather large fallen tree.
When you reach that mound, turn right and go down through a depression in the earth and up out of it between a pair of beech trees to another embedded rock. From there turn left and walk to the stone wall.
There is a large gap in the wall; stand in it and look to your left. You'll see a flat rock leaning at a slant against the rest of the wall and just beside a stand of small dead trees. Look behind this rock.
