William O'Brien State Park
just south of Scandia off of Highway 95

I grew up in Minnesota, and one of the clearest recollections I have of all those years was of listening to WCCO radio. My folks always had the radio on, and the different personalities we heard day in and day out were like good friends. My day always started with the Good Morning Show. Charlie Boone and Roger Erickson would harmonize their way through the Good Morning song just after 6 a.m. and I never missed it!

Choose your own path, but make your way to the point where the Wetland Trail intersects the Woodland Edge Trail. You can't miss it, because there's a tunnel under the railroad tracks just WNW of the intersection.

Box 1 - "Boone..."

Go through the tunnel. You'll need to cross a small creek in order to skirt the wall to the West. See that tree growing against the wall? Boone is wedged in where the tree and wall meet. Replace carefully so that the spring thaw won't wash the box down from its perch.

Box 2 - "...and Erickson"

Proceed further along the Woodland Edge Trail (NNW) until you see 60214. Stand upon the stone in the trail just here, and site 310 degrees. The quintuple-trunked tree shelters Erickson where a sixth trunk once stood.

Notes:
- If you don't have a park sticker, a day pass is $7
- Pets are permitted so long as they're on a leash
- Bring your own pen and ink (recommended: black)
- These boxes are really too small to accomodate HHs
