This is a new location/replacement of 'The Bunny Trail' - which went missing on us THRICE! It's a great walk down a beautiful trail - and there's a short version and a longer version. The trail is gravel - great for either walking or biking! We've seen rabbits (!), deer, snakes, raccoons, and lots of other people enjoying the trail.
THE LONGER VERSION(about 3 miles one way):
On Guinea Road, between Little River Turnpike and Braddock Road, park at Rutherford Park. Cross over Guinea and begin walking down the newly created trail. Stay on the main trail (ignore the small trail to the left and the right fork soon after starting at the red fence). You'll cross over a high bridge at about 3/4 mile, and at 1 1/2 mile, you'll emerge from the trail up onto Woodland Way in the Canterbury Woods neighborhood. Cross over and continue on with the trail.
This is where THE SHORTER VERSION begins (about 1 1/2 mile one way):
As the trail curves after the culvert, take the right fork and continue on some lovely trail with great access to the creek for rock throwing, etc. Soon after the trail takes a sharp right where the water pools deeply, look for a bridge over the creek on your right. At the bridge, go down (hold onto the tree trunk!) to creek level and walk on the stones 35 steps to the right. To your right there is a largish tree leaning out over the water - immediately next to it is a smaller tree - at its base is where you'll find the letterbox.
