The Farnsworth Metropark Stamps

Depending on how you want to come to the park and whether or not you want to bike it or use your car will effect how you need to read the following clues. Farnsworth Metropark is divided into three entrances that can be accessed by cars- Roche de Bout, Indianola and Towpath Trail. There is a bike path that can be accessed from any of them and can be taken along the Maumee River to all three. Don’t worry bathrooms and water is supplied at all the stops. There are even dog bowls along the way for your K-9. From end to end the distance is about a mile and a half. The clues are set up from a car ride point of view but all the boxes can be found from the bike trail. It is recommended that you start at the Towpath Trail entrance if you are traveling by car. It will be easier to make a right hand turn out of the drives than multiple left hand turns.
If you are coming from the North on US 24(Toledo area) you might want to start at the Roche de Bout entrance. If you’re coming from the South on US 24(Defiance area) you should start at the Towpath Trail.

LEAF

Find the entrance to Towpath trail and Boat launch on US 24 near Waterville, Ohio. At the T take a right and park in the lot where you can see the bathrooms and you will also be near the boat ramps. Take the gravel trail to the right. After you’re on it for a short distance you’ll see a set of stairs on the left side of the trail. This is marked by a small gravel path going towards the river. Four steps from the top you will need to stop and look to the right. You will see about a three foot tall stump that is free from most of its bark. This tree stump is about 4 feet from the step. Inside you will find your prize.

RIDING

Find the entrance to the Indianola Area on US 24 near Waterville, Ohio. From the shelter house go down the steps to the path, which you’ll want to go right on. On this path, you will find another set of steps that lead to no where, on the right. Walk up five steps, the second one is twice as wide as the others. On the fifth step, turn and look towards the river. On the ground to the right, you will see a short log and a long one. On the end closest to you, under some wood of the same color, you will find what you seek.

TUNA SALAD-MISSING ( Will replace soon:-)

Find the entrance to the Roche de Bout Area on US 24 near Waterville, Ohio. From the shelter house, head to the trail in back along the river. This trail is well paved. Take the trail past the swings an up a small hill. On your left, and at the top of this small hill, you will find a stairway that leads down the hill and to a grassy path. Carefully walk down the steps and stop at the bottom. You will turn to your left and you will need to start counting your steps because sixteen of them should bring you to a flat rock in the ground. You will look up the hill and into the semi-wooded area. Half way up the hill you will see a large tree with a large and interesting root system. Walk up the hill and to this tree. Between the roots on the lower left side of the root system, you will find Tuna Salad sitting comfortably. No need to cover with debris… it blended well when we placed it. No need for the box to look unnatural if it doesn’t have to.
