The Bay Colony was instrumental in the American Revolution.
The tax on tea assigned by the Crown incited the Colonists.
The Tea Party created yet another riff with the Redcoats.
The Revolution is long over.
Americans as the colonists are now called still have the love for a spot of tea.
CLUES:
In, The Bay Colony, take Route 140 North through the towns of Bellingham, Milford and Upton. At Grafton Center
(settled in 1728), the STOP sign will cause your eyes to wander to the Gazebo in Grafton Common. You need to take a sharp left and park on the side of the road just after The Grafton INN. To your left, there is a tall monument erected by the town in 1867; WE DIED FOR OUR COUNTRY, FOR LIBERTY, LOYALTY AND LAW. Read the names of the fallen sons of Grafton, reflect on their sacrifice.
The Massachusetts Bay Colony erected a plaque in recognition of HASSANAMESIT, "At a Place of Small Stones".
John Eliot established a Christian Indian village here in 1651.
Is it time for TEA? Look, across the street to ONE GRAFTON COMMON, where Lunch, tea, coffee and provisions are served by Tricia: M-F after July 1 and M-F after Labor Day from 11 am to 3pm. Leave your car where it is. Walk to the left of the building, up two granite steps, enter through the green door to enjoy a spot of tea or more.
Anna, in the gold frame, is guarding the patrons of the shop from the enthusiasm of the letterboxers. She has a twinkle in her eye as she oversees her grand-daughters' establishment. HIGH TEA is located on the wall of which Anna is honored. If patrons are sitting at the table next to this wall, you must be patient. Ask Scarlett or Stacey for a menu, have a spot of tea, lunch, or one of the many Tricia prepared desserts. Or go next door to The Tuscan Rose and browse and than come back. The Duke of Earl has been assigned to stand guard next to "The Stone Wall". When EARL Greyer is not looking, put your hand behind the Stone Wall for your HIGH TEA.
