Difficulty:
Last part of drive is on gravel road, you have to forge a small creek, but the hard part will be finding Gooseberry.

Location:
Gooseberry Resevior is located East of Fairview, Utah in the Manti-LaSal National Forest (which is really big). You take a rather winding road (with some fearsome dropoffs near the road) toward Hunnington and Electric Lake. I Google'd "Gooseberry Resevior," and failed to come up with much. But, it is located to the West of Electric lake (ie- the other side of the mountain). Google Maps will not show it in Map view, but the Satellite view does show this particular "boot-shaped" body of water.

So, why'd I put it here anyway:
When I was growing up, my family owned one of the cabins you can see to the East as you drive up to the lake. We left Utah over half of my life ago (when I was 14), and haven't been back until now. Our 2005 Jensen family reunion was held in one of the cabins, and we got to introduce my parents' 13 grandchildren to the wonderful scenery there. I was quite happy that not a lot has changed up by the lake ... especially since everything I knew and loved growing up in Spanish Fork has changed. Anyhow, we decided to place a letterbox in honor of our reunion. Who knows, we may actually get back in another 14+ years and it would be fun to see who actually found this box since we placed it.

Clues:
Once you find the lake, drive to the North end where the dam is and stand on top of the dam by the turn wheel. From here, you will need to take a compass reading of 285-degrees magnetic. You should see a small hill with a large cluster of white stones. These are sandstone, and will require that you forge the small creek that is the outlet of Gooseberry in order to reach them. (You will also have to cross a very small spring brook, but after the creek, you will hardly notice. Now, go to the far side of the hill and look for some similar large stones, but these have some black lichen growing on them. One has a small cluster of stones beneath it, and the prize is below that!

Be discrete as always, and since we live in Oregon, if anyone actually finds this or if the box needs some attention that you are willing to lend, please drop me an email!
