You want to start your search at the site of the gallery that hosted the first retrospective exhibit of Joni Mitchell’s paintings. You’ll walk along the water, away from downtown, taking either the high road or the low road. When the two roads join, take the boardwalk down to the right. As you pass the weir, watch for pelicans, gulls, cormorants and other fauna. On your left, the vegetation will end and rocks begin: the letterbox is nestled among one big, one medium and one little rock at the very beginning of the rocks. There is a cement wall you can sit on to move the little rock aside. Be discreet as this path is very popular at all times of the year. Sitting on the wall and gazing at the river until passersby leave will help the secrecy.
