This box was originally placed in 2004 and went missing. This is the second carving and a new hiding place.

The Maneki Neko, or Beckoning Cat, is a good luck symbol in Japanese Culture. Businesses will often place it in a place of prominence near the front door to bring in good monetary fortune.

To find this cat, go to the Japanese Gardens parking lot in the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Find the SW corner of the lot and walk on the sidewalk into the garden area. Stay to the right on the path and find the bench on your right. Stand in back of the bench and walk at a bearing of 45 degrees for 5 paces(10 steps) to a "cave" beneath three large rocks. May he bring you good fortune! Have fun and watch for "cat-stealers"!
