This is a very easy walk on a boardwalk and beach. The total miles up and back is 1 1/2. There is a bike path beside the boardwalk if you prefer to bike. Bring your camera as there is a beautiful Blue Heron that sits on one of the piings in the water near the clock on the boardwalk. If you would like to make a day of it there is a public beach (small charge to enjoy from May to Oct.). This is a very public area so be discreet and hide the box well again please.

Horseshoe.

From Rt. 4 take Rt. 260 (toward North Beach/Chesapeake Beach) go to the end and make a left. Make a right on First street and park near the end of the boardwalk. Stroll on the boardwalk until you spot George and Mary, have a seat,
rest your feet,
you won't find me looking out to sea,
you must look inland to find me.
across the street in a stand of pines is where I'll be.

Count 35 footfalls (L R L R =4), starting at the first pine on the left. You will find me at the base of the pine in the background. This is a busy area please hide me well again.

Sharktooth. Removed will place somewhere close in the near future.

Back to the boardwalk and stroll to the end, There are some interesting signs on the railings about the area (can you find the one for horseshoe). Don't forget to look for the Blue Heron. At the end of the boardwalk follow the jersey barriers to the house on stilts, look to the left and you will see a beach they call forbidden. I am hidden in a peice of driftwood on the beach, see if you can find me.

To get to the beach you must go back to 9th street go up one block to Bay Ave and make a right. Follow this road until you see the entrance to the beach on the right (be careful this is a busy road sometimes and no sidewalk). Once on the beach go to the right and you will find me. You may want to take some time and look for real shark teeth on the beach near the water. If you find a few leave one or two in the box for others that may not find one. If you didn't find one please feel free to take one out of the box but leave some for others to enjoy.

The other option is to back and drive to the beach (there is no parking lot just hard packed sand be careful dont go in too far you may get stuck).

To make a day of it you can go back to the public beach, go fishing off the pier, visit some of the antique shops in the area, or one of the restraunts. Sweet Sue's is wonderful. Richard's Florest has a great room full of decorated christmas trees and some great gifts. Abners Crab house has the best steamed crabs around.
