Location: This trio (3 boxes total) of letterboxes is located at Murray Park in Murray Utah. There are a number of ways to access the park. However, to follow the clues from where they start, it is best to park in or near the Murray Aquatic Center parking lot. This can be reached by turning east off of State Street just north 5300 South (past the shopping monstrosity on the corner), or by turning east up 5300 South then turning left onto Murray Park Lane.

Who is Murray? Murray is a kind hearted fellow who is feeling a little down about himself and his life. This series of letterboxes tells the story of how Murray enjoys a series of good fortunes because of his kindness and generosity toward others. Whether one considers it “karma” or “reaping what one sows” that which we give to others comes back to us.

Clues for Box 1: Murray finds Prosperity
Murray decided to go for a little hike one day and thought the local park would be the perfect place. So Murray found a great parking place and locked up his car. He crossed the smaller bridge from where the water serpents swim in summer and the riders might land with a splash. It was a nice little walk where he could feel the wind on his face and the coolness of the shade. He crossed the water and turned right, away from where the little ones play. Watching the water racing over the rocks made him feel as peace inside. He wished some of his friends were with him to share the moment. Murray continued to walk along keeping the flow to his right. But suddenly he stopped, for the path seemed to end. But he noticed a small, well-worn path to the left of the barrier.

He emerged where the vines climbed the round wood to his left and continued on, keeping the climbing carpet to his left and the moving water to his right. What a bright and cheerful place he thought to himself. If only everything in his life were as bright and cheerful. Things didn't seem to be going very well for Murray. Still he smiled, remembering that the small things often added up to greater good. On through the open space he walked, past where the ducks slumber toward a bridge that spanned the swift water.

He had nearly reached the bridge and noticed and odd and rather large metal box on his left. He walked past it and across the bridge. He paused and considered where his feet ought to lead him next. Away to his left, a hard snake wound, raising its back so Murray's feet wouldn't get wet. He followed, careful not to stray right. By a low stone wall, Murray paused for a space in shade, sweet and delightful. He noticed where he was and thought he ought to give some of the little signs a look. By the ashes that are sometimes green (J-6) murray looked back in and by a rock amidst the greenery he found PROSPERITY! What a treasure he'd found! (carefully hide the box where you found it, be discreet so others don’t see where you’re hiding it)

Clues for Box 2: Murray has Faith In Himself and Others
Murray was tickled with his discovery and could hardly wait to share it with his friends. Prosperity is all the greater when shared with others. Murray knew this and wished he had all his friends around him just then. But he also loved the green space and wandered a little longer among the trees.

He rode the hard snake's back as it curved gently right, then a little more sharply where it intersected with another snake. Poor Taxodium distichum was standing on his right, a lonely sentinel. Murray considered the tree and wondered if it might not like to stand closer to another like itself. He looked ahead and noticed a Dog (M-7) and a Crab (M-6). Were not a Crab's apples fairer by far? He decided so and went in that direction. He knew if Hawthorn (M-3) was standing on his right, his path was true.

Murray continued on to where a juniper (N-10) from Japan sprawled. He looked at the lovely plant and noticed something interesting. There a horseshoe lay and with it, back under the green bows FAITH was to be found. Murray considered how little he believed he could positively affect his life and how he had not believed others could also help him. It dawned on him that he had given far to little credit to both himself and those he called friends.

Clues for Box 3: Murray finds Double Happiness
Suddenly, the wind carried the sound of running water to Murray's ears and he found himself desiring to be back to where the big water flowed, where the wind in the willows sighed. He looked around and saw that many paths led back to it. It didn't matter which he followed, he knew he could find his way back to it.

The willows swayed gently in the breeze and the wind played with Murray's hair. What a wonderful sensation he thought to himself as he walked along the bank, keeping the flow of the water on his left. Along he walked until he paused for he saw he could go either left or right. He considered for a moment before quick as a lick, he reached under and found, beneath wood and iron, DOUBLE HAPPINESS. Murray jumped as a sudden noise came from behind him. A cheer of his many friends made him turn, delight and wonder on his face. Yes, this was happiness!

Note: In Michigan, we incorporated clues into a story format. We haven't seen this in Utah. We hope you like our silly riddles and the goofy story! Happy Letterboxing!
