Location: The trailhead is located just off Highway 14 about 30 miles east of Vancouver. Turn off Highway 14 directly across from the famous Rock and drive 0.3 mile up a paved road toward the campground, and then veer to the right into a trailhead parking lot. If this access road is closed (and it is during the winter), you'll have to park at the Rock and hike the 0.3 mile to the trailhead. The trail you want may be named after someone who was killed in a duel with Aaron Burr.
Distance: ~3 miles roundtrip
Terrain: climbing trail through woods
Note: A Northwest Forest Pass or a $5.00 day use fee is required.

Head up the trail and enjoy both waterfalls, including the short side spur. Not far after the falls you’ll reach a point where it seems you’re standing at the bow of the boat, looking at a panoramic view of the river gorge. From this point, countinue a short distance up the trail. Stop when the trail turns left and there is a large pine at the turn. Three steps beyond the tree look down and you’ll see a log which holds your prize in place. After stamping in, please be sure to wedge it back between log and branches and cover well so the box isn’t visible from any point on the trail and so it doesn’t slide down the hill. Thank you! (If you get to a trail intersection, you went too far…)

We hope you enjoyed your hunt and since we don’t live in the area we would really appreciate an update on the status of the box if you find it. We won’t be able to check on it very often.

Hike length: 2-3 miles
