Lorance Creek Natural Area is located along a wide, slow-moving stretch of Lorance Creek. Interpretive signs along the trail describe the history and natural features of the area. Quiet and peaceful during the day, Lorance Creek comes to life during evening and at daybreak with a chorus of bird and frog songs. (Binoculars are good to have in you are interested in birds.) Beware, the mosquitos also come out at dusk and dawn too! So you might want to consider insect repellent. Many really neat species of dragon flies are also seen in the swamp.

Lorance Creek is open to the public and has a fully accessible, paved foot path and elevated boardwalk.
Insect repellent is suggested.

To get to Lorance Creek:
• Take Interstate 530 (Hwy 65) south from Little rock for approximately 10 miles
• Exit at Bingham Road (exit 9)
• Turn left (east) on Bingham Road, pass over I-530/Hwy 65
• Continue through a "residential" area
• At the "Y" in the road, bear right on Border Lane
• Parking area is approximately 100 yards on the right.

To get the Letterbox:

Walk the paved foot path until you reach the placard titled "Voyage to the Ocean". Sit on the bench. Look to the left of the placard and you should see a twisted tree. The letterbox is located behind that tree under a number of branches and some pine needles. Be on the lookout for poison ivy! And be cautious of other creepy crawlies (i.e. snakes). Please make sure you hide it well.

Happy Hunting!
