This is in NYS "forever wild" wilderness territory. You will need a high ground clearence vehical to get in this road.

DIFFICULT hike with some steep uphill climbs.

From Rt. 8 in Brant Lake turn left onto Palisades Road (just after the lake). Take second right onto Beaver Pond Road. Turn right onto Pharoah Road.

At the end of Pharoah Road you will find the trail head for Pharoah Mountain Trail.

Enjoy beautiful lake at the beginning of the hike, then follow the trail about 6 miles to the top of Pharoah.

As you approach the summit, the trail T's off (one heading SE at 152 degrees to a great view overlooking Pharoah Lake- the other heading NW at 310 degrees taking you futher to the top).

Take the trail at 310 degrees. About 50 feet along the trail it T's off agian (the left goes approximately 290 degrees down the other side of the mountain. the right goes 70 degrees to illegal camp sites (there is no camping here).

Take the trail to the right (70 degrees) about 15 paces. Here the trail Y's off. One heading 5 degrees and one heading 90 degrees.

Take the trail that goes 5 degrees for 14 paces.(To your left will be the very top of Pharoah Mountain)

5 paces to your right at 105 degrees will bring you to a pine of 5.

From the pine of 5 shoot a 54 degree azimuth and go 12 paces to a crack/hole in the rock- under some leaves you will find your prize!
