Terrain/Distance Pretty flat/~50 yards round trip.
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.
NOTE: This box is reported missing by two boxers so I will replace it when I can get around to it. I tried and could not find it myself.
Throughout Ohio there is art work placed outdoors where the public may view it free of charge. Visit this link to find the two pieces of sculpture in Marietta and for this letterbox look for the Memorial to the Start Westward. Once you find it you will see a picture of what you are looking for and also the park where it is located.

Drive along Front street until you spot the Memorial between the street and the river. Park along the street and walk over to the front of the memorial (the side with the three men facing you). Walk around the right side of the memorial and go sit on the middle of the concrete bench over in the corner. When it appears safe to do so, swivel around and look in the bush which is behind the bench , about 2 feet up from the top of the bench. You should find a black/camo pouch attached to an interior limb with a piece of wire wrapped around the limb. Unwrap the wire and do the stamping......either there or back in your car. Please reseal the baggies well to protect the log since the pouch is definitely not water proof. Discretely replace the pouch as you found it and you might want to look for the other letterbox (1/2 marathon) located not far away.
