The Texas Blueberry Festival Box is part of the Texas Festival Exchange handled amongst Texas Letterboxers. It was carved by The Frye Team and planted by Lucy Locket. This box commemorates the Texas Blueberry Festival held in Nacogdoches in June of each year. It has been planted amongst the gardens of the Stephen F. Austin Arboretum, which is located in the piney woods of Nacogdoches, Texas right off Hwy 59. The Arboretum can be reached by taking Starr or College Avenue east off of 59 (North Street) and turning on to Wilson Drive.

When you pull into the parking lot of the SFA arboretum, look for a large wooden entry way on the far left (northernmost) side of the garden. Enter the arboretum here.

Walk through the entry and walk straight ahead. Find the white sign that gives information about the Asian Valley. Follow the path around to the right to the picnic table.

Standing with the picnic table to your right, take the path on the right. As you turn the corner, you will see a monument to the Space Shuttle Challenger Astronauts. Stop here.

After reading the inscription, turn your back to the monument and the seating area. Turn left and go about 28 steps. There will be a tall sprinkler on your right. The path turns to the left, but there is a dirt path straight ahead. Take the dirt path.

You will pass a red bench on the right and you will see a large bridge with steps up ahead. Walk to the bridge, but do not take the bridge.

At the foot of the bridge, turn left and follow the path to the right. At about 20 steps, a smaller bridge will be on your right. Continue on the path.

At 22 steps, you will be standing with a tall sprinkler on your right. Straight ahead of you is a tree that juts out into the path. Look behind this tree for your delicious blueberries.

Don't forget to enjoy the rest of the garden. This arboretum has the potential of being either very busy, or very solitary. Please contact either the Frye Team or Lucy Locket for the status of this box.
