Directions to Hurd Park: Directions: Rt. 66 to 151 south follow 151 south about 2.5 mi. turn onto Hurd Park Rd. follow Hurd Park Rd, for about a half mile to parking area. Park here for a longer hike, or drive in following the directions in the clues.
This box was "retired for the season" and is now back in a new home in the park it's the same stamp new place. :) I'll probally leave it there perm. as long as people are finding it ok :)
Clues:
Head up the park road, take the first Right hand turn up the paved hill,Watch out for the huge pothole at the left hand turn on the way up the hill! Keep driving until you are next to the ball field and picnic shelter. Park in the turn around Please don’t block any gates.

Walk through the field towards the picnic shelter, behind the shelter on the right Is a Huge old Oak tree walk past this tree after checking it out for a minute. Head towards the right hand back corner of the field. You will see a WOODEN POLE PAINTED WHITE marking the trailhead
Walk past the pole onto the trail. You will pass two old quarries on your right (The Coyotes den is one of them). Walk past both quarries and you will see a tree blazed with two white blazes, Turn right after the blazes and head up the hill. Keep going uphill and you will come to a Rock Wall pass through the wall and stop. (In Memory of Goldust is to your right take a minute to visit his box) From the rock wall at the top of the hill go ahead a few more paces and look to your left, there is a trail here between two trees. (new trail named Deer Ridge Trail by someone) You want to turn onto this unmarked trail (be careful npt to loose your way) You will walk along a rock wall for a minute and the trail will twist and turn, keep a lookout on the left side of the trail for a rock sticking out of the ground you want to pass this and keep going, it curves and goes downhill. Now keep a lookout for a large rock on the right side of the trail about 3 feet high, ahead should be a large rock outcrop and slightly behind you & on the left is another large rock with a rotting tree fallen on it. Go to this rock and go around the backside of it, underneeth it hiden with a rock and some sticks is the old time pumpkin. Please be careful of spiders and snakes. I had to remove a spiderweb with my stick. Rehide as well as you can, I couldn't find many rocks in this area small enough to use I'll try and get more on there next time. Please DON'T take any from the rock walls along the trail, I'll get more for it after.
If you decide to follow this trail further be careful not to get lost as there are no blazes, I'm guessing it may be hard to follow once the leaves start falling, & I haven't finished it yet myself to see where it turns out. Have fun!

For an alternate longer route to letterbox:
From parking lot do not cross the gate but look to the right of the parking area there is a small steep hill go up this and turn right at the top of the hill follow this trail with faint yellow blazes until you reach a paved path when you reach this path turn left and follow paved path to around the top of the hill be on the lookout for a trail on the right with blue blazes when you get to it follow it until the end (near the end it splits stay right ) at the end of the trail is a picnic area enter this area about 20 feet on the right is a WHITE WOOD POLE with a white blaze on it, enter this trail follow the directions above.
