Welcome to the first Geocaching and letterboxing hybrid cache in Alberta! Hopefully you will take the time to appreciate what each hobby has to offer.

This caches was created in the honour of our dog Rocky, hence “ROCKY” ROAD… and that is has been! We adopted Rocky from a rescue in Newfoundland in March 2004. He is beagle-jack russell cross, and he can sometimes be quite a handful. Quite often he will escape our yard (by various, sneaky methods!) and will be caught roaming the river valley of Cochrane. On a nice day you may be able to see hang gliders soaring over Cochrane from the famous “Big Hill”. Please take the time to enjoy the scenery as both Rocky and we do.

Letterboxing Clue

There is a mystical creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle with the addition of prominent ears. The female has the wings of an eagle. It is generally represented with four legs, wings and a beak, with eagle-like talons in place of a lion's forelegs and equine ears jutting from its skull. What is its name?

Follow the “mystical creature Road” to the very end. You will know you are on the correct route if it describes the creature above, if you go past much fallen timber, and if your trail is long and winding. At the end you will see a “car corral” to park at, east of a large complex. Begin your hunt from the NE corner of the “corral” and head due north approximately 36 m. Look high and low to find the treasure stowed.

Happy Hunting!
