These boxes are in a large wooded area at the northern end of the lake, that has the same name as the lake in Troutman, NC. This lake is often called "The inland sea" because it is so large. To find out more about the lake the park, the hours, and download a map, go to http://www.ils.unc.edu/parkproject/visit/lano/home.html

There is no better place to be than in an inland sea.

To get to the park; From I-77 take exit 42 and follow the signs to to the stpark. When you get into the park, turn left on Group Camp Lane and go to the parking lot at the group camping area.

Clues: From the parking lot, go towards the restrooms. The Lake Shore Trail starts to the right of them. As you hike on the trail, count the bridges. Just after the third bridge, bear left. About 5 minutes after you cross the 6th bridge, the trail will come close to the water, then take a sharp right turn. Shortly after this turn, the trail will go between 2 big "Y" trees that are close together. Look to the right for a downed tree. Follow it to it's base and on the uphill side you will find box #1 "Plankton".

Continue on the trail for quite a while. Cross over the road that goes to the boat ramp. Keep going until you come to a double bridge. Turn around, go 63 steps, you should be in a small dip in the trail. Look left and see a upturned root ball. Follow the dip and look behind that root ball to find box #2 "Squidward".

Back on the trail for another long walk. You will cross 2 paved roads. (The second one goes to the beach). In a short while you will come to a large downed tree with a chunk cut out of it for the trail (This is actually the second cut log, the bigger one). Go 14 steps, look left. Box #3 "Patrick" is hiding behind the group of twisted trees.

Continue on the trail. You will cross another paved road. In a short while, you will see the water. Bear left at the intersection, and start to count the bridges again. Cross the second bridge and look left. You will see a double fallen tree. Look behind it and you will find box #4 "Spongebob".

Continue on the trail and you will come back to your car.

Good luck and have fun. (and a good rest afterward)
