The Moses H. Cone Manor House is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile post #294. The Manor now houses the Parkway Craft Center and a National Park Service information desk. It is open daily from May 1st. to Oct 31st., the hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Obtain a Cone Park Carriage trail map from the info desk in the Manor House.
Find the spot you are looking for on this map. The easiest and most enjoyable way to what you seek is a 2.4 mi. round trip hike from the Bass Lake Parking area. When you arrive at the place on the map that you are searching for, find the s.e. corner of the building. At this corner take 4 steps to the stone retaining wall. Hidden near the top, behind some loose rocks, you will find your prize.
