JERUSALEM MILL at Gunpowder Falls State Park

The 228-year old Jerusalem Mill, once the centerpiece of the thriving Quaker settlement of Jerusalem in the 18th and 19th centuries, operated continuously for nearly two centuries. Located on the banks of the Little Gunpowder Falls River in Harford County, both the Mill and the Village are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Jerusalem Mill was acquired by the state as part of Gunpowder Falls State Park in 1961 and now serves as the Park Headquarters and Visitor Center.

DIRECTIONS:
Jerusalem Mill (park headquarters) -- From I-95 take exit 74 for Route 152 West (Mountain Road). Follow Mountain Road toward Fallston and turn left onto Jerusalem Road. Jerusalem Mill will be on your left after 1.1 miles. Parking is in the lot on the right, just before the mill.

Moderate Hiking Trail; however, at times the trail can get quite muddy, especially after hard rains! This hike does include 1 Steep Hill. Children young and old have been able to hike up to the box, however :-).
Total round trip time approx 1 hour.

CLUES:
Park in the lot at Jerusalem Mills.
Pick up a trail map if you lack hiking skills!
Follow the paved path past the Blacksmith's Shop.
Turn Right and cross the Meadow to the Little Gunpowder Trail.
Follow the Single White Blazes Trail 15 to 20 minutes till you cross a small stream.
Cross the stream and begin pacing from the roots edge.
Follow the path 62 (child sized) paces at 350 degrees NNE
At 62 paces STOP and look to your right, between the 2 Beech Trees up the hill at the big outcropping of rocks.
Hike 28 paces up the hill 50 degrees NE to the front wall of the rocks.
Go 112 degrees ESE for 5 paces.
Go 56 degrees ENE for 7 paces
(For those without a compass, work to your right around the Rock outcropping)
Look Due North for a small flat face.
You'll find your prize at it's base!

As you leave you will learn that "Scott was here in '82".
