Find your way to Stevens Pond.

From the north: Rt 495 to Exit 48, Ward Hill Bradford. At the end of the exit go right. At your third set of lights take a right onto Rt 125 So. Go approx 2-3 miles until you see the China Blossom Restaurant on your right, pass it and take your next left onto Osgood St. You will come to a fork in the road, go left onto Stevens Street. At the stop sign take a hard left (go left at fork) onto Pleasant Street, keeping the water on your left. Pass the public swimming area. Just beyond the chain link fence park in the hidden dirt parking lot on the left.]

From the south: Route 495 to exit 42 and follow Route 114 east 1 mi. Turn left onto Route 133 east and follow for 0.2 mi to lights and straight over (becomes Andover Street) follow for 0.6 mi (past the Stevens Coolidge Place). Bear right at fork and continue 0.2 mi. to intersection at Old North Andover Center. Go straight over for 0.5 mi and then turn really sharp left onto Pleasant Street (you can now see the Lake). Continue for about 0.25 mi and there will be dirt parking lot just before the public swimming area on your right.

Clue # 1: Enter the trail. When the water is in front of you go right. You will come to a stone archway. Go through the archway and take the path immediately on the left. It will go behind and up. At the top, go right to the 2 telephone poles (one is number 4147). Go right, down the steep embankment to the small pine tree. Your prize is hidden at the base under leaves and sticks.

Clue # 2: Go back down to the archway and continue along the path. You will quickly come upon a small stone building with steel doors. Get on the trail to the left of it. Go straight ahead until you come to a sign/map, go right. You will go until you come to a triangle (a beach area will be on your right) go straight across following the waters edge. There will be a line of stones in the ground to point you in the right direction. Stroll along for a good little while keeping the water in your sight on your right. You will come upon a "field” of oaks and if you look hard up the hill to the left you can see a stone wall in front of a tree that has suffered "Mother Nature’s Wrath" (lightning). Go to that tree. Now you should walk about 14 paces along the wall. The box is within the wall. [Hint: you will have to move some bark]

Clue # 3: Go down the hill and get back on the trail continuing on (to the left). You will still have the water on your right, though it will be harder to see it. The trees will thin and look more like a field on your left. Go until you are at the lone tree directly next to the path, on the back of this tree there is a knot near the ground that looks like a toilet seat. Enter the woods to your right. You will find your reward between here and the lake (about 15 paces), inside a fallen tree whose trunk is being held up by another.

Clue # 4: The next box is a mere stone’s throw away. Get back on the path and you will come to a spot where the trail bends left and in front of you is a beach. Go between the two large bushes, then take 15 paces along the trail to the left. Enter the woods on your left and go to a grouping of small pine trees (about 33 paces in). Your prize is under leaves and a good size rock. When finished, return to the trail where you left it.

Clue # 5: The most challanging part of this journey begins here. In some areas the trail becomes more unsteady and comes closer to the edge of the water than we have been yet (still done easily with a 4 year old, just kept at arms reach). It is also the furthest away from the last box. Continue along the same trial, again following the water. You will walk across a wooden bridge. You are going to walk through three stone walls before coming to a wooden walkway. Cross the walkway, and take 14 steps. On your left lies a fallen tree. Within the rootball of this tree under, you guessed it, leaves and bark, is what you seek.

****November 23, 2007 - We'll be taking these in for the winter today, tomorrow or quite soon. Thanks for the looking!!!!!!******
