I got these notes from a finder recently:

*The clues for "The Ambassador" aren't quite accurate anymore -- there's no tire up against a tree and Glenn's rock seems to have moved up the trail several yards passed where it should be in the clues (can't imagine how since it's so huge!).

*The tree described for "Grandpa" is cut up into pieces and the box is near the base under the branches/debris.

Well look at this. 'Pears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?
Big damn heroes, sir.
Ain't we just.

The series Firefly premiered in 2002 on Fox networks to shaky ratings. After being preempted most weeks, it steadily lost viewers until its cancellation in December of that year. Most shows that go this route are quickly forgotten and never heard from again. Firefly, however, had struck a chord with its few viewers and they wouldn’t give up on the little show. A DVD was released with all the episodes and its strong sales prompted Universal to option a film. Serenity, the name of the spaceship on the show, was also the name of the movie released in September of 2005. This series of boxes celebrates our heroes that make up the crew of Serenity.

Stamps: Handcarved
Time to box: about an hour including stamping in time
Please bring a stamp pad and a pen. If you forget, there is a pad and pen in the first box (Hero of Canton) which you can use. Please return it to that box when you finish.

The series is in Crowe's Pasture Conservation Area. There is a posted warning that during pheasant and quail hunting season you must wear orange. The season runs from October 15-November 29, 2005. According to the Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife Regulations, no hunting is allowed on Sundays. Watch out for cars off-roading and poison ivy. We planted the boxes only in spots with little to no poison ivy so you shouldn’t find yourself in tons of it.

Directions coming from Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, etc...

On 6A heading towards Dennis, just past the town line coming from Brewster you will see Airline Rd. on your left and directly across to your right is School St. Turn right down School St. Then take an immediate right down South St. Continue on for just a little ways until you eventually see Quivet Cemetery on your right. Continue past the cemetery onto a dirt road and take the first right in to the parking lot.

Directions coming from Yarmouth, Barnstable, Hyannis, etc...

Take 6A into Dennis, and continue up eventually crossing the intersection at Rt. 134. Continue for a ways passing such sites as the Worden Hall Art Gallery on your right. Continue until you come to a series of signs on the left side of the road, located on School St.(directly across from Airline Rd. to your right and the Dennis/Brewster town line 100 or so feet past School St.) Turn left down School St.(A series of signs mark School St. like "Cold Storage Beach, and The Jacob Sears Library"...) Travel for a hundred feet or so then turn right down South St and follow that up for a ways until you spot Quivet Cemetery on your right hand side. Continue past the cemetery onto a dirt road and take the first right in to the parking lot.

The Hero of Canton

Follow down the road and go past the first wide path on the left. Keep following until you come to the second path on the left marked by two boulders. Take this path. It goes mostly uphill. At the end of the path, it turns left to reveal openings to houses. At the turn, look for the Pacman rock on the left. The Hero of Canton is behind this rock in the undergrowth. Please re-hide carefully, especially in winter since I'm not sure how much of this undergrowth will be there to keep it hidden.

Captain Tightpants

Go back down the trail to the road and continue down (take a left at the end.) Go left at the fork and take the road on the right marked by the large, flat rock. About 17 steps from the rock is a clearing marked by a skinny oak closest to the road with a row of 4 trees behind it. The box is behind the large rock nearest to the 5th tree back, covered with leaves and three smaller rocks.

Autumn Flower****MISSING****

Leave the clearing and continue away from the flat rock. Ignore the road that veers left. Take a left at the next fork after that road. You will come to a barrier. About 20 feet before the barrier is the end of what was a rock wall. Where the 3 rocks behind the rock closest to the wall meet, you will find Autumn Flower. She is under a rock and a log.

Leaf on the Wind

Go back to the fork and take the road that’s now on your left (the right fork if you were coming down the road.) Go straight past the road forking left. The road will diverge and then converge. After that, on the left, is a little recess into the trees. At the right behind the rock and under a plank is Leaf on the Wind.

The Ambassador

Continue down the road past Glenn’s rock. Before the next recess, you will see a tire off to the left next to a tree. Behind that is a pine with about an 18 inch diameter trunk. The Ambassador is behind this tree under pine needles and a rock.

Shiny

Continue down the road. Take the left fork to a clearing. Past the dirt mound at the end you can see more remains of the rock wall. Shiny is next to the 2nd rock in under a brick.

Grandpa

Go back to the main road. Past the turn around spot on the right is a unique tree off the road. It has two thicker trunks (maybe 6 inches in diameter) and two skinny ones. One trunk grows parallel to the ground at first then curls up. Grandpa is at the Y created by the two thicker trunks.

The Doc****REPORTED MISSING 7/09****

Continue down the road and take a left at the next fork. Eventually, the rock wall will materialize at your right as you pass what looks like farm land. You will come to an oak that had a beat-up tire rim hanging on it at the time. It is next to a flat rock with a point. After the next oak, there are 7 big rocks before a short gap in the wall (looks like a missing rock.) The Doc is behind the last of these seven, the ridgeback rock.

Girl in the Box

Walk down the road and past the rotary to the opposite side where our road continues. About 45 steps after the CAUTION NO HUNTING sign, before the road turns left is a sprawling oak in a bit of a clearing (I know, lots of sprawling oaks here, but it is in the easiest spot to walk up to.) Walk to this tree and you will see a second sprawling oak beyond it. It is about 3 feet in diameter. The Girl in the Box is under the branch pointing furthest back, under leaves and a log.

Serenity

You’ll find the clues to Serenity if you complete the series.

Back to the car:
Turn around and follow your path back. It's hard to go wrong here, just stay on the road and keep going right at all the forks you went left at before.
