Based on a report by a previous finder, this box is gone. The bush where it was to be found has been chopped down and there was no sign of the box. Clue is being archived on 06/12/08

***********************************

Corsicana is where oil was first discovered west of the Mississippi River. In 1884, the city hired a man to drill a water well. Instead of hitting water, oil spurted from the well. The city fathers were so unhappy, they refused to pay him! Corsicana became the original Texas oil boom town, as this well was the first to produce oil in commercial quantity. Corsicana is also the home to the state's first oil refinery--Magnolia Oil, which later became known as Mobile Oil.

Directions to the Box:

Petroleum Park is located on S. 12th Street in Corsicana, just past the intersection of S. 12th and W. 7th. Read the plaques on the red brick wall which tell of additional contributions. The box is on the left side of this wall, near the base of a small bush.
