2/19/06 I verified that stamp two is nowhere to be seen.

Brett Woods- Back to School Boxes

Brett Woods is at the end of North Street (though there are other entrances), which is off from Redding Rd. in Fairfield, CT. The Woods encompasses 186.1 acres. Parking is limited but you can go back to the cul-de-sac if you have to. It took me almost an hour to place these. There is no log book in the first two boxes. Stamp into the third one!

Box One: Go west, over chain across trail. A few yards later trail splits. Take the yellow trail right (North). Follow under power lines. A red trail will come in from the left, go straight. Orange trail on left, go straight. Split in trail, red right, yellow/horse trail left. Go left. Follow yellow to driveway (you will see the house on the left). Walk away from the house on this driveway for a few yards. On the left the yellow trail goes back into the woods. Walk until you reach a rock wall. On left (a little down the trail) is a jumble of rocks, with a large two sister tree in front of them. From north side of tree take a reading of 103 degrees. In front of you are two rocks that look like a hole had been drilled into them and the rock had split. Now take about 8 steps. There is a large flat rock sloping away from you. Underneath this rock on the right side is you treasure. Continue down the trail.

Box Two: Go trough two rock walls and by a Yellow marking/Horse Trail sign. Orange trail comes in from the left. Go straight to pond. After getting to the pond itself the trail will then cross over some rocks and then come to a tree with yellow markings and a marking where a tree branch was cut off long ago. Instead of following the side of the pond, take a reading of 280 degrees. In that direction should be a fallen tree. At that 280 degrees go 23 steps up to that fallen tree. Looking left, find the two sister tree that the dead tree has fallen on (about 9 steps to get over to it). In the roots on the south side is your box covered by a rock. Please throw some leaves over the spot when you’re done.
Back to pond, rest at bench.

Box Three (and login): Take trail around Pond. Take a right at Mountain Laurels. Come to a trail head. On right you can see houses (and an entrance to woods). Take left up orange trail. Continue up hill. Hill will flatten on top, keep going. You will meet up with a red trail that comes in from the left, take it. You will soon come up to the power lines with a large boulder on the left were others have had fires. From where you emerge into the open take 54 steps at about 290 degrees. There should be two concrete blocks with a “v” in each. From the farther one take a reading of 285 degrees. Below you will be a couple of rocks. Take two or three steps to a “shiny” rock. Box is underneath.

You are right near a ledge from which you can actually see the pond. Go back to the intersection of the Orange and Red trail. Go left toward the east on the Red. Take this trail down the hill, straight back, regardless of color, to your car.

Stamps are not hand carved.
