This box will occasionally be stocked with prizes, and it is import, unless you are good at orienteering, to bring a compass.
If you like a good hike you can start from Purgatory Chasm or the Surfers' end of second beach (you have to pay to park here in the summer) and walk to Sachuest Point.
Start at the Sachuest Wildlife Refuge. (aka Sachuest Point) Take Island Rocks trail. You should pass the "Raptors of SAchuest", sign. Continue on Island rocks trail. Take "shoreline access" trail to beach. Climb to the top of the "severed rock". Looking northeast, locate the the next tallest rock, then walk to the top of it. Whe you reach the rock look down, you should see "SA 1985". You are on the right track, if your "guiding light" is to your east. Than, looking north go to the whitest rock that you see. From this "precious" point walk west to the brush line, than walk approx. 25 paces (pace=1 average step). You should see a "gleaming stone". Roll this stone aside to unearth the box. Please take the time to hide this box better or as well as you found, as this beach is highly traversed. Thankyou and congratulations. After replacing the letterbox, if you look up to the bushes you can see somewhat of a trail. If you take this trail there is a nice lookout point with a spotting scope. Sachuest Point is the kind of place you can explore endlessly in, and it is a great place for a day trip so have fun after finding this letterbox.
