There are times when you discover some place special that has been there for years and years but you just have not seen it. This is such a place. It is a nice little secluded place anytime, but, go there at sunset for a special treat.

Enter the west gate of Stone Mountain Park. Turn left as soon as you leave the entrance and proceed a short distance to the first parking lot on the left. Cross at the cross walk near the parking lot entrance so you will notice a bench dedicated to our friend Codger Butler. He was a special person for many reasons. Codger says go west up the side walk to the first asphalt road to the left. Go up the road and cross the railroad track.

About a dozen steps past the track you will see a path leading off to the right. Take this path for a short distance until it opens into a granite field. Do not cross the field. Curl left around the plant life until you are almost facing the asphalt road again. You will see a natural granite wall. Go to the left side of the wall and climb the natural steps to the upper shelf. Now sit down and enjoy the peaceful spot for a while. While you are sitting there you will see a small tree on your left. Between the base of the tree and the base of the natural bench you are enjoying you will find a trio of kings.
