Difficulty: Easy
Marfa, Texas is primarily known for two things - the Marfa Mystery Lights and the artwork of Donald Judd. This letterbox stamp relates to the box sculptures by Judd. However, his work is located on private land and is available for viewing only through a tour of the Chinati Foundation. Therefore, this box is hidden near a popular spot for viewing the town's other big attraction, the Marfa Mystery Lights.
Directions and Clues:
From the yellow blinking light on the east side of Marfa: take Hwy. 90 for 8.3 miles to the Marfa Lights Viewing Center. From the back deck of the Viewing Center, take the trail heading west to the plaque entitled "History." Facing this marker, take the trail on the right for 23 paces. A mesquite tree will be on your left. Box is underneath stones at base of the tree. Please re-hide it well and let me know the status of this box!
