Pooh`s Hideaway is located in Francklow Park, which is a nice neighborhood park located in southwest Houston.
Directions:
From I-10 go South on the Sam Houston Tollway to the Westheimer exit. Turn left (East) to the first light which is Seagler Rd. and then left on Seagler past Briar Forest to the 1300 block which is at the corner of Cedar Creek Ln.. A short distance past Cedar Creek you will find the parking lot on your left.
To the Letterbox:
At the East end of the parking lot is a water fountain next to a green trash can on posts. Follow the trail Southward back to Cedar Creek Ln.. The trail curves Westward along Cedar Creek to the cul-d`sac. Starting at the `Pets on Leash Only` sign (got the compass?..Good!), walk 22 steps at 10 degrees. This is the middle of the asphalt trail...now go 40 steps at 350 degrees into the opening of the woods. You are now standing between two large pine trees that are 4 steps apart. Now, take 11 steps from the `Northeast side` of the right hand tree at 25 degrees. You are now standing in the middle of a ragged circle of five pines. Turn to 70 degrees and walk 20 steps along a slight curve to the low hanging branch...DUCK! From the branch, walk 7 steps at 125 degrees. Turn to 185 degrees and walk 6 steps to the tall pine. The last turn (whew!)is to 120 degrees... walk 17 steps into the `Hideaway`!
Here, at last, is a pine stump surrounded by various sized logs. Pooh`s box is buried under twigs and pine needles between the stump and the nearest log piece.
Pooh says, "Watch out for the mosquitoes! OFF is good!... and hide the box well!"
