Near the intersection of University Avenue SE and Clarence Avenue SE, there is a small little park that has a very notable landmark: the "Witch's Hat" water tower. It is located in the Prospect Park neighborhood, which is a curious section of Minneapolis in which none of the streets are laid out on a grid like the rest of the city. It is home to some beautiful houses (including the Malcolm Willey house, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright).

The "Witch's Hat" is located on the highest natural point in Minneapolis. The view from the top is absolutely spectacular. Unfortunately, the tower is only open one day a year. Supposedly on a clear day, you can see all the way to downtown Saint Paul. Legend has it that a young Bob Dylan used to hang out here and this is the tower that inspired the song "All Along the Watchtower." There's no proof that this is the case, but it is still worth a visit.

Start at the base of the water tower. Admire the view of Minneapolis. Maybe find another letterbox hidden at the top of the hill. Walk around to the north side of the water tower (where the door is). Take the concrete path around the curve. When you reach the point where three paths meet, stop. Take about 38 steps down the hill. Off to the left you should see a dirt path with a wooden fence. Take this path down the hill, following the wooden fence. The wooden fence ends at a large tree, just before the path emerges from the woods. Look east around the tree and into the bushes. There is a slender tree at an angle where the grass meets the woods. Walk to this tree. At the base, you should see a short bleached log. The box is nestled between this log and the little tree, under bark and leaves.

Please remember to re-hide well! This is an urban area and this tiny park is quite popular.
