This letterbox has been placed in the Black Earth Creek Public Fishing area. This is a GREAT trout steam, if I'm not mistaken, CLASS A. ALSO MY FAVORITE STAMP!!

This letterbox is a Geocache/Letterbox hybrid. The letterbox container is an ammo can(What's an ammo can look like???), inside you will find many geocache trade items, please do not take these items unless you are also a geocacher. Check out geocaching at www.geocaching.com.

The are 2 ways to find this letterbox, the easy way, and the pretty way. I would recommend the pretty way myself, but I will provide you with both.

Park your car on the side of 'Sherbel Road' near the bridge over the creek. You will see a sign for the Black Earth Creek Fishing Area, you'll know you're in the right spot.
Here's a map to help you park:

The Pretty Way:

Start in on the small foot path just 20 ft or so South of the bridge. It's SMALL. You'll be heading North-West, just keep following the creek. This is a BEAUTIFUL and really fun walk, just don't fall in!

Continue on along the creek, the path will sort of come and go, sometimes you will need to make your own way. Eventually you will come across a concrete bridge that spans the river. You will need to cross the bridge to be on the North side of the river, this is the side with the railroad tracks. From here, the pretty path and the easy path merge so scroll down.

The Easy Way:

Follow Scherbel Road south of the creek until you see a well marked snowmobile trail which borders the Black Earth Creek Public Fishing land.

Follow the snowmobile trail West and North until you reach a place where the trail splits. There will be a sign at this intersection that tells you how to get to Black Earth, Cross Plains, and 1 or 2 other cities. You want to branch right, (not toward CP or BE). Very soon you will come to a concrete bridge, you will need to cross over to the NORTH side of the bridge.

The REST OF THE WAY:

After crossing to the North side of the concrete bridge, you will need to continue on a small unmarked footpath that follows the river. The river will get very close to the train tracks, for a short while the river will follow them, and then it turns away from the tracks. Follow the river. Shortly after this turn, you will see quite a bit of busy beaver work. Only about 5 feet from the river, near a small bend where the creek turns back to parallel the tracks, you will see a small pile of brush near a cluster of beaver-lopped-off tree trunks. Locate the ammo can under this pile of brush. It shouldn't be too hard to spot, this is a lot of directions, but not really so hard to find. When you find the beaver spot, you're there. Look around, you'll love the hike!

Good Luck. This map pin-points the spot where you can find the letterbox/cache.
