** Series has been removed after vandalism occurred to boxes. Hoping to replace boxes in better area. **

This series is located in the Branford Supply Ponds on North Chestnut Street. North Chestnut St. is located off of Route 1. Tommy Sullivan's Cafe (Good place for lunch)is located on the corner of North Chestnut. There is no sign for the Branford Supply Ponds.

EASY to MODERATE Terrain. Approx. 2 Mile Round Trip
DOG FRIENDLY

Drive north on North Chestnut St. by the ponds and over a small bridge. Park in the parking lot there. There is a steel gate at the RED trailhead which has maps in a holder on it. Look on the back of the map for a history of the area. If there are no maps, you can still do this series by these clues.

From the parking area continue down the road in a generally SE direction to the first PURPLE trailhead. It is about 100 ft. down the road. Take the PURPLE trail to the top of the hill where it intersects a stone wall. Follow left side wall to the first large vertical rock in the wall. (About 20 steps, 40 Feet). Look for the CAT FOOTPRINT Letterbox in front of the vertical rock at its base.

Continue on PURPLE trail. Follow PURPLE to the LEFT. (See markings for old white trail).

While still on the PURPLE trail, after the stream is forded and the hill crested, look to your right to see a large pile of rocks. Investigate the top crevice to find the DOG FOOTPRINT Letterbox.

Continue on the PURPLE trail until it intersects the RED trail. Take a RIGHT onto the RED trail. Traveling about 3/4 to 1 mile, follow the RED past the YELLOW trail(On your LEFT), past the ORANGE trail(On the RIGHT),over the first bridge, following to the left, over the second bridge, and continue on to the GREEN Trail intersection.

The GREEN trail enters from the RIGHT. Follow GREEN trail. A low area of the trail, with numerous logs to help you cross the mud, is what you are looking for. After crossing the logs, look to the RIGHT to see a lone, large boulder. The BEAR FOOTPRINT Letterbox is on the back side of the boulder. Continue on the GREEN trail to the road. Go LEFT at the road to bring you back to the parking area.
