Difficulty: Fairly easy, some uphill
Distance to Microbox: About 2 miles round trip
Status of Microbox: 4/15/10 - Box is there, but stamp seems to be missing. If anyone plans on going let me know and I will mail you a new stamp to put in box.
The "Shady Jaws" minibox is located near Boxley, AR, in a park where Eden Cave is located. The cave is great to explore, with waterfall inside it (bring flashlight and be ready to crawl some). Also nice hiking in fall.
Directions:
From Boxley, go west on Hwy 74. Park is on right in about 2 miles. Pull in via dirt road and park near camp area.
To the minibox:
Hike the trail leading to the cave (look at trail board). Once you reach the cave enterance, back up to the #9 pole on your left (if facing the cave). Go up to the right, behind and above the #9 pole. To your right, at ground level, is a hole that leads into the cave. Coming up from there is a crevace which meats a lateral crevace. About midway is along this, look up to a rock overhang above. In the middle of this overhang is a water flow cut. The minibox is below this ledge, left of the cut, in the rock wall, with a small rock covering its hiding place.
