Bane Park in NW Houston is another nice area park for a picnic lunch. It features a good playground, ducks, turtles & a fully loaded pond for fishing (stocked with rainbow trout each January).
To get to Bane Park, from Highway 290, exit Gessner. Go east and then turn left onto West Little York. Park entrance is just ahead on the right. It's easy to miss, so look out.
Once you pull into the parking lot, go past the playground and park straight ahead.
From your car, walk to the lake. To the right, you should see the sign for the Nature Trail. Walk to this starting point. Follow the signs & arrows for the nature trail. Just after the Southern Red Oak information sign, you should get to a large downed tree. The Gleeful Grinch is hiding at the base of the stump (the tree is resting on it), hidden under some bark.
If you want to, bring some bread for the ducks.
The nature trail is scheduled for upgrades and improvements, so we probably will pull this box in February after this holiday season. This box is inspired by Grumpy Grinch, whose boxes we enjoyed finding on a recent trip to California. Thanks GG!
