This letterbox has travelled all the way from New Zealand to the USA. Thanks to Y Naught for placing it for me :)
The Strong Face Letterbox is hidden a short distance up the Haflin Creek Trail near Durango, Colorado, USA. To get to the trailhead drive about 6 miles north of Durango on highway 550 and turn east on Trimble Lane (County Road 252). If you are coming from the north, Trimble Lane is 2 miles south of Hermosa. Drive past the Golf Course
and across the bridge. Where Trimble Lane ends turn right and continue south for 1.1 miles, the trailhead is on the left side of the road and is marked.
A few yards up the trail is a warning sign for hiking through an area that was burned in a forest fire. Don't worry, Strong Face isn't that far up the trail. Now hike about one quarter mile until you come to a sign that says "Trail" with an arrow pointing left. From the sign, count steps up the steep part of the trail. After 70 steps there will be a large gray rock on the left side of the trail and you can almost see a Strong Face in the small cliffs a few yards ahead. The gray rock is about three feet tall and about eight feet long and there is a faint "X" made by two cracks on the top. On the downhill side of this rock by a tree you will find Strong Face under the customary pile of rocks. Make sure to look for Feline Triskele a little further up this trail.
