One box with a stamp carved by Cody B Cleo on a two plus mile hike with a bit of it uphill.

At the intersection of route 189 and route 315 turn onto Mountain Road (there is also a blue Metacomet Trail sign at the intersection). At 0.3 miles you'll see an orange gate on the right and a few feet after that, the blue trail. In good weather there might be room to park near the gate (don't block it) but today I continued to the end of the road (another 0.2 miles) and parked on the cul-de-sac. (I've been told that there's a parking area here now and the gate was open when the boxers got there but after finding the box the gate was locked so don't drive in).

Walk from wherever you park to the blue trail, going uphill for a good bit, just before you reach the top, you'll see a very large brick chimney on the left which was once part of a recreation area. After this you'll be walking level ground for quite awhile along the ridge line. After first powerlines the trail follows a gravel road for a bit. After the path leaves the gravel, continue to the top of the next hill where there are a pair of hemlocks and a sign board for the James Property. Look behind the next tree in the row, an oak.
