7901 Comus Rd., Dickerson, MD 20842 Tel. 301-874-2024/301-869-7846. This area is in Frederick County, MD

What an unusual mountain. Lying east-south-east of Frederick Maryland, and west of Germantown, this small mountain stands by itself in the Maryland piedmont. It surely seems out of place, almost as if it got separated from its parents located twenty-some air miles to the west. Geologically, Sugarloaf is known as a monadnock, a mountain that remains after the erosion of the surrounding land. At SugarLoaf, that process took approximately 14 million years. At an elevation of 1,282 feet, Sugarloaf stands more than 800 feet above the farmland below. The rugged cliffs on the summit are composed primarily of quartzite, the predominant type of rock on the mountain.

NAME: Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner
Birth date: September 17,1949
Birth place: Southern California
Mission: To Catch an eat the Road Runner
Weapon of Choice: Anything made by ACME

Drive into the parking area and take the drive up the mountain to the East and West views of the mountain. When you reach the East View parking area stop and make your way to the information board. Facing the board take a reading on your compas of 100 degrees and walk in that direction to a large bolder and take in the view that the coyote has when watching for that elusive Road Runner. From that spot, take a reading of 40 degrees and walk carefully in that direction 30 foot falls to the Coyotes' latest weapon, the... ACME sling shot!Standing from about ten feet back, looking at the "sling shot" take a reading due North and walk 25 foot falls to the trail. Stand facing the center of the 2 in 1 tree and take another reading of 300 degrees and walk into the woods 63 foot falls to a boulder with a tree growing out of its left most side. Wedged under the overhanging "top" of the bolder behind some sticks and rocks you will find Wile E.working hard on his next attempt to catch the Road Runner

Back on the path at the 2 in 1 tree, walk down the trail and look for a trail marker on your left. Upon reaching the trail marker begin looking for and counting white blazes on both your left and right up to the 4th white blaze. From the 4th blaze count approximately 42 foot falls to an outcroping of rocks. Walk to the large outcroping and climb to the top. Take a reading of 125 degrees to a boulder with a tree growing against it. Walk around to the back side of the tree and look down to a gap between the tree and rock. Carefully..reach inside and under some rocks you will find the Road Runner.
