Windansea is a beautiful and popular surf spot in La Jolla. It is known for the grass-roofed shack that dates back to the 1940s and is a historical landmark. The shack has been destroyed by the surf a couple of times and rebuilt.

Now - finding the box...
The stretch of beach known as Windansea is located on Neptune Street between Nautilus and Palomar.

Park in the lot or as close as possible.
Follow Neptune southward along the shore.

Where the sidewalk ends there is a bench. This surf spot is called Big Rock. (Mental note: you may want to return here to sit down and stamp the box after finding it - or go down the white steps to a comfy rock).

Now follow Palomar up the hill. As you approach La Jolla Boulevard you will see a little brick walkway on the left with a fountain.

Follow the pathway to the alley. Go left.

Partway down on the left, past the lattice fence, you will see a small reddish concrete box. The letterbox is tucked underneath. BE STEALTHY! (Don't want a resident to grab and trash it.)

At the end of the alley go left and you're back to Palomar.

Enjoy your trip to La Jolla!

SIDE NOTE: This letterbox was planted in December 2005 and is still alive and active. So many people have passed thru, it is now on it's 3rd logbook!
