Alive on 7-4-2011 (per update - needs a back as the stamp is breaking in half! - also the tree has broke and fallen.)
--------------------------
This box is located in Lake Livingston State Park. The boys in our family planted this box in honor of their first time camping here. It was a very family friendly place that we will make many trips back to.
The parks official address is: 300 State Park Road 65 and their phone number is 936-365-2201. I believe that there is a $3 entrance fee.
From Houston: Take 59 north to Goodrich. Take a left on 393. Then exit FM 1988. Then you will turn left on 3126.
When you stop at headquarters, be sure to get a park map. Continue until you get the the first intersection and turn right. You will pass the Briar Loop on the left and there should be a parking area on the right. This should be the Pineywoods Nature Trail. There is a map at the trailhead. You are looking for the Frog Pond. I believe it is listed on the map now. There are several directions to go but the entire trail is very nice. The frog pond is in the Northeast side of the trail.
If you take the trail to the right, follow it around the outer trail and as it curves back around and you start heading west again, you should come to a trail that heads north. On the park map, there is a small square that shows the frog pond but doesnt identify it as such. Take this trail north and you will be on a boardwalk which leads you to a lookout over the frog pond. From the lookout, go south 13 steps back toward the mail trail. You will be facing south. At 13 steps, turn right and head off the boardwalk. You are going to walk 11 steps to a pine tree directly in front of you (At 6 steps you will pass a pine tree on your left). The box is in a camo box hidden behind the tree.
